Shiny Thing

I just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't already, that Kevin and I are officially engaged now. We are planning to get married on April 23, 2010, in the Salt Lake Temple. I'm super excited and glad that we are now moving forward. There will be a reception that night in Kamas, then an Open House the next night in West Jordan.

We really don't have an elaborate engagement story. I was with Kevin the day he bought my ring, so I already knew what it looked like, plus I knew when it would be back from getting sized. However, when December 30th rolled around, the ring was still getting fixed because there were a few tiny dents in it. (Kevin didn't volunteer that information, I just couldn't wait, so I asked him on the phone while I driving home. I was kind of disappointed, but a little bit relieved because I felt getting engaged on New Year's Eve would just be way too cheesy. Anyways, after I got off work on New Year's Eve, I went straight to Kevin's. He was playing his X-box, so I started checking my email. After a bit, he handed the ring box to me. I was surprised because I thought it was still getting fixed, but he had been able to get it back the next day. I thought that was a pretty lame way of proposing, but I was just happy to finally have the ring. After a bit, I asked him if that was it, and then he asked me if I would marry him, and I said yes.

It wasn't until the next day that I found out that he wasn't planning to propose that night, but was actually just showing me the ring after it was sized and fixed. Apparently I was supposed to give it back after he showed it to me. Luckily he wasn't planning anything elaborate to propose to me, so I didn't ruin anything, but I find it a bit funny that I didn't give him a chance to propose.
