Kamas
Kevin and I were able to spend the past weekend at my
parents’ house. Kevin did a lot of deer hunting, and I helped my mom and did a
lot of time wasting on our tablet, as well as rereading some of the books from
the Twilight series. I did go hunting with Kevin on Monday, but I stayed in the
truck and read while he wandered around trying to find the seemingly elusive
deer. Some of my entertainment came in the form of my parents’ kittens. I was
going to adopt one a month ago, but Kevin talked me into talking myself out of
it. They were doing all kinds of exploring. They were even crawling in the bbq,
but my dad came and scared them away before I could get pictures of that. Here
are some of the pictures I did get. I think the kitten in the first three
pictures is the one we were thinking of adopting. The last picture is of Fluffy, the momma kitty.
Gisela
My former roommate Gisela was also in Provo this weekend, so
we drove down to see her. Unfortunately, my other roommates, Shannon and
Kristy, were unable to come, but it was still fun to see Gisela, as well as
Shannon’s family. (All get-togethers seem to be hosted by Shannon’s parents,
plus this was a reunion for the people Gisela, and Shannon’s family) had known
from Puerto Rico.) While we didn’t know very many people, the food was
scrumptious as usual, and it was really nice to be there.
The following are some of our photos from our year together
in Belmont:
Enjoying a roommate dinner (traditional Puerto Rican bean
and rice dish I believe) in our living room. The kitchen wasn't big enough for
the six of us.

Sporting our scarves Shannon brought us back from Paris.

Thanks to a mishap that Elena had with a piece of
chocolate, this was our apartment picture in the ward directory. All I can say
is that we are "special."

Whenever get-togethers like this happen, I alternate between
being happy and being sad. The happy part should be obvious, but I feel sadness
because it reminds me that these friends were integral parts of my life at one
time or the other, and now we don’t get to see or speak to each other
regularly. Most of our communication takes place through blogs and Facebook. I
guess I should be grateful for technology, because if I just had snail mail to
keep in touch with, I wouldn’t keep in touch with very many people. The only
person I am able to keep in touch with via phone is Karen, and we are sporadic
at best. I guess the good thing is that you can always make new friends. While
they don’t entirely replace the friends you have had before, they too bless
your life in a way that only they can.
