The Boxer and the Poodle

Last Christmas, Luna and Sissy had the first meeting. It didn’t go well. Sissy felt threatened by this intruder ten times her size, so she trembled and growled at Luna. Luna meanwhile wanted to sniff her. All of this made my grandmother very nervous, so Luna and Sissy were kept separate.

Fast forward several months to this past weekend. Our ward is having a campout in Kamas, and we need a dog sitter. By this time, my parents’ have inherited Sissy, and my dad has basically banned Luna from their house because he is convinced Luna could eat Sissy in one gulp. However, we had nowhere else for her to go, so we brought her along and hoped for the best.

While I don’t think they will ever be best friends, no dogs were harmed during our stay. Luna tried to make friends with her, but kept getting growled at, so she finally gave up. Sissy spent most of the time either cowering under the kitchen table or being reclusive in my parents’ bedroom.

Despite Sissy’s cold reception, Luna still enjoyed her time at my parents’ house. However, since there was so much to see and do, she didn’t take any naps (plus she didn’t sleep at night), so this was her position for almost twenty-four hours following our return home:

She did muster enough energy to rotate between her beds, but that was about it. She is finally starting to show interest in what Kevin and I are doing.
